CCTV salesmen will typically try to convince you that new wiring such as Cat5 or fiber optic will need to be installed for your camera system. Existing RG-59 on older systems can carry the same signal clarity and speed, in most circumstances. There generally is no need to replace existing wiring.
Leasing & Storage Fees
Another CCTV sales tactic is leasing you a camera system and storing your recordings off site or in their “Cloud.” CCTV companies will charge for installation, monthly lease, and then recording storage of one day to however long they can talk you into. You can avoid these issues by simply owning your camera system.
